First Lady Jenny Sanford Helps Kick Off Historic Charleston Foundation’s 60th Anniversary Year
Columbia, S.C.-March 2, 2007 - First Lady Jenny Sanford will conclude the Historic Charleston Foundation’s 60th Anniversary Lecture Series on Monday, March 5 at 7 pm at The Charleston Museum (360 Meeting Street, Charleston).
The lecture will highlight Mrs. Sanford’s past four years in the Governor’s Mansion which she describes as “living with four boys in a china shop.” Mrs. Sanford will discuss the Mansion’s history and furnishings. She will also talk about the renovation of the Lace House. With the help of the Governor’s Mansion Commission and Foundation, Mrs. Sanford oversaw the Lace House interior refurbishment project in 2003 and the home has now been successfully reopened for rental and public use, generating more than $150,000 in revenues for the properties. A slideshow of Mansion and Lace House photographs will accompany her lecture.
Mrs. Sanford will also unveil illustrations from Mischief in the Mansion, a history book about the Governor’s Mansion written and illustrated by her four sons. Mischief in the Mansion is scheduled to be printed this month and available for purchase sometime later this spring. The proceeds of this book will benefit the Governor’s Mansion Foundation and Commission.
The First Lady’s lecture is the last of a month long series celebrating the Historic Charleston Foundation’s 60th anniversary.
The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Curry Hagerty in the Office of the First Lady at # 803.737.4772.
