First lady Jenny Sanford continues to get high marks for how she has handled herself in the aftermath of Gov. Mark Sanford’s admitted affair with an Argentine woman.
Add author Pat Conroy to the chorus praising Jenny Sanford.
Unlike many other political spouses, Jenny Sanford is not blindly standing by her man. She recently moved out of the Governor’s Mansion. She was critical of her husband in a Vogue magazine interview released last week, comparing his “obsession” with seeing his lover to someone who is addicted to alcohol or pornography.
And Vogue photographed a radiant Jenny Sanford in a short and sassy coverup in front of the Sanfords’ Sullivan’s Island beach home. The photo sent an unambiguous message: Jenny is fine without Mark.
Conroy noticed this, too.
“Jenny has gotten the best reviews of any woman I’ve ever seen come out of South Carolina, for the way she’s acted, and the dignity and restraint, and — but solidness — with which she has treated this in her life,” Conroy said on National Public Radio.
